Congrats for your new job, and best of luck with it!

Cfengine is a strange beast sometimes, but it is probably the best solution for such environments. Of course, together with Linux :).

the security level will not be displayed by default in the middle as sections contents are hidden by default.

The banner is interesting as you can start the tool standalone ( i.e not within MCC ), and I do find this more beautiful and allow to see the icon and thus allow to ease the tool identification

thanks for your suggestions :)

Hello

Just some ideas I have after reading the article.
First of all the status bar at the bottom. There shouldn't be one.
You wrote that Windows Security Center is your main inspiration. Which is a good idea since Windows is the most likely users know.
In Windows if something is not enabled then it's grayed out. Therefore there's no need to write whether it's enabled or not.
The security level is also written in the middle of the window.

I never understood why there are banners everywhere in the drakxtools. It takes up a lot of space for nothing. Plus if this Gui really works like the Windows Security Center then there's 3 drop down list there, which also eat up a lot of screen space. So I think just removing the banner would improve usability of this tool.

Other than that it's a very good idea.
What's even better is that somebody actually took the time and wrote the specification, even if it took a full year, instead of just starting coding.

strange, especially concerning the caracter error.
2 possibilities :
1. issues with the caracter when doing a copy/paste. Be sure to use accordingly the ' ( under the 4 key ) and " ( under the 3 key ) by replacing them manuelly

2. if the former doesn't work, then try this :
cd /
rpm2cpio /tmp/rpm5/perl-URPM* | cpio -idmv
perl -Murpm -e 'URPM::DB::convert("/", "btree", 1, 1)'

unfortunately, the last one never pass regardless of the syntax :

Hmm, very interesting. I'll go and read all that. Monogamy is a social taboo that we should think over (even if we end up thinking it's best).
I like the "serial monogamist" concept very much :)

I like picard a lot, that's why I have packaged it for Mandriva :-) Do you get errors when trying to calculate PUIDs as well?
